Stop staring at an empty glass. The best clear ice competes on how invisible it can be. We thought the case deserved something inside it, so we put the art at the centre of the ice.
A beautiful, empty case
A great clear cube or sphere is a display case worth admiring. The craft is real: the cut, the clarity, the slow melt. Look closely, though, and the case is empty. All that work goes into the frame around nothing.
That always felt like a missed opportunity to us. Ice fills half the glass and shapes how the drink evolves. It is the one element with room for something, and the one element nobody fills.
Putting something in the case
So we set a frozen halo at the exact centre of the ice: white frost, a rose-gold shimmer, or 23-karat gold. The clear ice around it does the work of a vitrine, holding the piece in view while the drink stays clean. The halo is what the guest looks at.
Ice within ice: a second, separate piece suspended inside the first, the same from one piece to the next. That is jewellery ice, and it is the dimension the glass was missing.
